Bob,
Our Ad hoc users are responsible for their own passwords. All our production jobs are run by an automated scheduler. Only the
scheduler can read the library holding our production logons. Production runs at a slightly higher priority than user DSS work, and
we need to maintain tight control over production userids This scheme encourages our users to put jobs into automated production as
they get guaranteed turn around. Production gets to choose exactly when to run the job once it is automated. This allows us to
effectively manage machine resources. Restarts and minor fixes are handled by a small production staff. Users with jobs run by
production never have to deal with their job or password again.
