Dara,

You say that the flat file is fixed in length but then you define the last field as varchar.

You should define this as char and then cast the value to varchar in the insert clause.

The varchar definition should have extra bytes telling how long it is, but in your case for this input file these bytes don't exist, hence the error in reading the file.
