To rephrase John's comments,
Our DBAs spend very little time doing traditional DBA work like tuning the system, tuning the database, tuning queries, tuning...
Our DBAs primary focus is development (more new than existing) where they have end-to-end responsibility from design, to production,
to post production support. In most non-Teradata organizations (and some Teradata where the same methodology is used), the DBAs
have very little client interaction, and are more interested in keeping the DBMS running, rather than what is running on them.
