Charles,

We have a process that updates user logon strings with a department/function name from our employee system so we can track utilization by department/function area. We load a temporary table with the user ID and department/function name and then use BTEQ/SQL to generate and execute "modify user statements" to update the logon string accordingly. I'd be happy to share more details with you, if you are interested.

We also have plans in the works to put job titles in the comment string so we have a better idea of user profiles. ("comment on user xxx as 'xxxxxx';)
