As an option to avoid PP2, I believe you could have the C programmers code to the Call Level Interface (CLI). I don't think there is any extra charge for access to the call level interface. PP2 contains a set of subprograms which use CLI. Documentation for CLI2 is on-line.

It is a bit more complex to code for, but allows multi-session, and more control in the interface to Teradata. It is also faster, so the complexity does provide some benefits.
