With a standard NUSI, the entire NUSI subtable has to be scanned in order to do BETWEEN logic. With the value-ordered NUSI, only those blocks in the NUSI subtable that are within the range are scanned. In the case of dates, the smaller the date range specified in the BETWEEN, the greater the benefit.
