If the data on input is stored as ' 7' and you want the data loaded to a numeric column it may be best to DEFINE the field as a CHAR(04) but load it to an integer column and let Teradata do the conversion.

There may be a need to put a FORMAT of 'ZZZ9' on the column in the VALUE clause. I'll check out some code at work today and let you know.
