Barbara,

For your usage of Time and especially with the current versions of Teradata (i.e. V2R3 +) I'd go for it in a single column (Timestamp?). even without using Timestamp, I'd tend to put it into a single column and use the relevant functions to break that down as necessary. For some of the usage you expect, you would need to combine it anyway.
