We have a Four Node 5100 1 Terabyte system with 400 gigabytes of data. We use SAS almost exclusively for our batch production
reporting system.
These reports run in MVS. It is also the tool of choice for Ad Hoc reporting. Most of the AdHoc reporting is now done in UNIX
but in the past the AdHoc was done in MVS. We switched to reduce CPU usage in MVS due to internal chargeback issues. SAS
performance is very comparable to raw SQL using BTEQ. Keep in mind the work that can be done with SQL on the Teradata Box takes
advantage of the parallel processing power. I think you'll see very favorable results.
