I am new to the List Server and just interested in user's usage of the fairly new RI Constraints within the Teradata RDBMS.
According to NCR folks working at our site, we are being told that no one (yes, I said no one) is currently using RI constraints
in a production environment on Teradata. Can this be true?
We are migrating from an Oracle Decision Support System (DSS) database where we depend upon RI to help manage data integrity
because our host data may not always be 'clean'. We are used to the problems that may occur because of RI and manage it within
Oracle. Unfortunately we now need to turn to application level RI on Teradata so that we can utilize the Fastload/Multiload
utilities without permanent RI in place on the primary tables.
I'm interested in any comments from persons currently using or considering RI in production. Also, any input regarding gotchas on
application level RI within Teradata.
