Just a comment: If you designed your application to take advantage of PI retrievals, then the overall system configuration probably doesn't matter as much as the performance of a single VProc. If you retrieve a single row, then only one VProc was involved in the work. In that case, your through-put would more likely be governed by the speed of the PE.
