| Subj: | | V2R3 Fair Share Scheduler |

All,
Does anybody out there have any experience with the new V2R3 Fair Share Scheduler? We have a large 5150 warehouse running V2R3,
and we're (unwisely?) trying to add some online transaction applications to an already-busy ad-hoc warehouse system. Our ace-in-the-
hole: V2R3 Fair Share Scheduler (we hope!). According to the documentation, we should be able to setup resource partitions, and
create performance groups and allocation groups which will allow us to control the allocation of system resources. It is our
intention to setup "online" and "batch" resource partitions, with appropriate resource allocations, which will ensure that our online
transactions always get top priority - even during prime-time batch updates to the warehouse. And, we want to ensure that in the
event no online transactions are running, batch gets access to the entire machine's resources.
Am I dreaming? The only documentation I've been able to get a hold of regarding the setup and usage of the V2R3 FairShare
Scheduler is in the "Teradata RDBMS User Utilities" manual. If you've worked you're way through it at all, it's pretty complex. Any
firsthand tips or experience would be appreciated...
