ANSI compliance is just a standard and like most standards, they tend to be somewhat limited in scope when compared to 'real world' practicalities. There is a lot that has been added to Teradata in R2V3 that is NOT ANSI standard but give us a lot more power and flexibility. Things like centiles, top and bottom (n), etc. There is a lot more to the world and life in an RDBMS than 'the standard'.

Again, my view of the world of standards!
