The following are the Rules of Conduct for the Teradata Forum. The rules have been kept short and are intended to make the
membership to this Forum a valuable and enjoyable experience.
- This Forum has been created for those interested in the Teradata Database. It is expected that some off-topic
discussions will occur, but it should be limited. Should a discussion get too far away from the Teradata world or if there are
complaints from the group about a discussion, the List Administrator retains the right to terminate the thread. An effort should be
made to stay on-topic.
- The Teradata Forum is supported privately and although problems with products can be discussed, this List cannot be
used for recruitment, marketing or product promotion (see below).
- The List Administrator has the final say concerning the membership of this Forum. Open discussion is encouraged on
this Forum, but severe or repeated violations of the Rules of Conduct can and will result in permanent removal. The members of this
Forum are largely professionals and professional behavior is expected.
- Since there is an expectation of professional behavior: tantrums, obscenities and/or personal attacks (aka 'Flaming')
will be a reason for revoking your membership. Once the List Administrator detects the violation, action will be taken.
Professionalism is the key.
- Please review the 'Guidelines for Posting' - Posters are
responsible for remaining within the Guidelines. If you have any questions, please contact the
List Administrator.
As stated above, postings that contain announcements, marketing or promotional material for products or services are not
welcome on this Forum and should not be sent. However, given the membership of this Forum and that it's the largest and most active
forum for the Teradata Community, some people will insist on violating the Rules of Conduct by touting their product or services.
We have adopted a policy where people who feel that they must send such a note to the Teradata Forum will be charged for that
note. The rate has been set at $1.35 USD/member/post. This is a real debt that is expected to be paid promptly, if not paid it
will be turned-over to a collection agency for resolution.
If you feel that the answer to a Forum question requires that a product or service be mentioned, then contact the
List Administrator
for review and forwarding to the Forum. If you post to the Forum first and ask later, you run the risk of being billed.
The best way to avoid accidental charges is to avoid posting notes that could be interpreted as promoting or marketing a product
or service. Responsibility of a post sent to the Teradata Forum lays with the sender.
When you join the Teradata Forum, you will be e-mailed the Welcome Letter and the Rules of Conduct - they take precedence
over what you have found here. Please be sure to read the Welcome Letter when you receive it.
Thank you in advance for adhering to the Rules of Conduct. Following these rules will ensure that this Forum will be a useful and
enjoyable experience for all members.
